zombie drink recipe ingredients

Woohoo! Party!

Most of these zombie drink recipes are alcoholic, and most the alcoholic ones use rum. Many of them also include a type of fruit juice.

The classic zombie cocktail uses the ingredients in the picture to the right. By no means do you need to have everything just right to enjoy a zombie!

Zombie Drink Recipe Alcoholic Drinks

Bloody Brain/Brain Hemorrhage (Shot):zombie drink recipe brain hemorrhage
  • 1 1/4 oz. strawberry vodka
  • 1/8 oz. lime juice
  • 3/4 oz. Bailey’s Irish cream
  • splash of grenadine

Mix the vodka and lime juice with ice, strain into a shotglass, pour small amounts of Bailey’s into the shotglass. The lime juice will make the cream curdle, and you’ll be able to “build” a brain after repeatedly pouring the Bailey’s in. Splash grenadine in for the “blood.”

The Original Zombie Drink (Cocktail):

Invented by Donn Beach in the late 1930’s for his tiki bars, this is a fruity drink that masks the large amount of liquor in it. The zombie drink is similar to a mai tai. This is the basic version, so of course there are many variations to this one, and you can find them at the Zombie drink Webtender page.

I really don’t care about the variations, I just want to make one so I can feel cool.

Optimally you want a Collins glass.

  • 1 part white rum
  • 1 part golden rum
  • 1 part dark rum
  • 1 part apricot brandy
  • 1 part pineapple juice
  • 1/2 part 151-proof rum
  • 1 part lime juice

zombie drink recipe tiki zombie cocktailMix everything but the 151 rum in a shaker over ice. Pour into a Collins glass and float/top it with the 151. You can optionally light the drink on fire because of its high alcoholic content, though that deviates from this traditional zombie drink.

Serve over ice and garnish with a cherry, pineapple, or your choice of fruit.

If you want to light it on fire anyway, go for it, at your own risk of course. 😉

Does that make it a flaming zombie?

Blue Zombie (Cocktail):
  • 1 part white rum
  • 1 part dark rum
  • 1 part peach schnapps (alt. triple sec)
  • 2 parts pineapple juice
  • 2 parts orange juice
  • Splash of blue curacao (alt. grenadine, or both)

Mix and pour into a Collins glass over ice. Can also be layered. Sweet and sour mix can alternatively replace one of the fruit juices.

Screaming Red Zombie (Cocktail):

Red Robin made this one famous, claiming that it’s strong enough to wake the dead. Considering all the zombie drinks I’ve listed so far, I think not lol. Use a hurricane glass.

  • 1 part rum
  • 2 part orange juice
  • 3 part sweet n sour
  • dark rum
  • grenadine
  • fruit garnish

Mix the rum, orange, and sweet n sour, pour over ice, then float the grenadine, then float the dark rum on top and garnish with an orange, cherry, or your choice.

Red Robin uses half Myer’s and half Bacardi Select for their dark rum float.

Redneck Zombie (Cocktail):
  • 3 parts Bacardi Limon
  • 1 part blue curacao
  • 4 parts mountain dew

In a collins/highball glass over ice.

White Zombie (Cocktail):

A little spicy, a little creamy, nice and smooth.

  • 2 part white rum
  • 1 part coconut milk
  • 1 part lime juice
  • 1 part chile syrup or just syrup
  • drizzle of grenadine
  • lime peel garnish

Mix everything except the grenadine and lime peel. Pour over ice, pour grenadine over a bar spoon into the drink, add garnish.

This one needs to be made right before you drink it, so that the milk doesn’t separate from the rest of the drink.

Zombie (Shot):
  • 0.5 oz. white rum
  • 0.5 oz. dark rum
  • 1.5 oz. apricot brandy
  • 0.75 oz. pineapple juice
  • 0.75 oz. orange juice

Mix all and pour into a lowball or an old fashioned glass.

Zombie Drink Recipe Non-alcoholic drinks:

White Zombie (Coffee):

Because white coffee beans are only roasted lightly, this drink tastes more nutty rather than like coffee. It’s very high in caffeine, so be careful! Ask your local coffee shop to make you one:

  • white coffee beans
  • white chocolate
  • steamed milk
  • your choice of flavored syrup
Bloody Shirley Temple
zombie drink recipe: bloody shirley templesThis is more of a Halloween drink, as I can’t see anyone actually enjoying one of these with dinner lol. Still, it’s zombie, so I’ll list it, and it’s kind of fun to make.
  • Sprite
  • ice
  • grenadine
  • syringe

Fill a glass with ice. Fill the glass with Sprite. Fill a syringe with grenadine, then place the syringe in the glass. Squirt grenadine into drink to taste.

Thanks to Your Southern Peach for the drink idea!

And of course you can take any alcoholic zombie drink recipe and take the alcohol out to make it non-alcoholic.
